Rakuten Kakeibo Product Manager

The Ad & Media Company provides advertising and marketing services, including digital advertising, research, and influencer business. This position belongs to the Media Business within the Marketing-related businesses, which operates a lifestyle media platform with over 10 million monthly users. With the mission "Close to everyday life", we deliver points-related content, news, and lifestyle information to provide users with a fun and valuable daily experience.

The position is specifically responsible for the household budgeting and asset management app, which visualizes users' financial flows in a fun way and supports them in saving money. This startup-like initiative launched the iOS version in April 2024 and plans to release the Android version in 2025.

With rapid growth in both users and revenue, we are strengthening our recruitment efforts to expand the business. You will work in a small, high-performing team on a rapidly expanding app service, giving you the unique opportunity to experience a startup-like environment within a large company.

We are looking for a professional who can accelerate the growth of Rakuten Kakeibo and maximize the user experience. You will play a key role in capturing market trends and user needs accurately, and be responsible for the end-to-end process—from product strategy planning and execution to performance measurement and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Rakuten Kakeibo.
  • Gain deep insights into user needs through market research, competitor analysis, and user interviews.
  • Extract and process data, and conduct basic statistical analysis.
  • Identify issues, propose improvements, and plan new features based on data analysis.
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog, including requirements definition.
  • Collaborate closely with the development team (engineers, designers) and manage the development process.
  • Coordinate and build consensus with stakeholders (business units, marketing, legal, etc.).
  • Measure performance after release, collect and analyze user feedback, and drive a continuous improvement cycle.
  • Set KPIs, track progress, and commit to achieving goals.

Work Environment:

  • Organization structure - Team size: L2: 1, L3: 1 - Age group: mainly in their 30s - Ratio of new graduates to mid-career hires: new graduates (30%), mid-career (70%)
  • Average overtime - Around 10–20 hours per month

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner for web services or mobile applications
  • Strong data-driven decision-making skills and logical thinking ability to break down complex issues and identify essential problems
  • User-centric mindset with a commitment to delivering an excellent user experience
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with multiple stakeholders

Desired Qualifications:

  • Data analysis skills using SQL or Python
  • Experience in team management
  • Product development experience in household finance management, financial services, or FinTech
  • Data analysis experience using SQL or equivalent tools
  • Product development experience at a startup company
