Software Engineer

We are seeking passionate software engineers to lead AI technology development in the Corporate IT Service Department. As platform services, we provide various IT solutions, primarily centered around AI technology, as platform services to Rakuten Group companies in order to improve operational efficiency across the entire Rakuten Group.

We conduct POCs for new no-code and pro-code AI solutions, and provide high-quality technical solutions and support for business users. In addition, we design and develop AI agents to automate tasks and enhance user productivity.

Position: Provide and operate an AI agent development platform - Build and manage a platform for employees to easily create and deploy AI agents (citizen development).

Develop and publish AI agent development guidelines - Set standards and best practices to ensure secure, ethical, and high-quality AI agent development.

Offer CoE (Center of Excellence) consulting and support - Serve as an internal AI expert team, providing consulting and technical support to business units.

Design, develop, and operate AI solutions for automation - Identify automation opportunities, deliver AI-powered solutions. - Evaluate and pilot the latest AI technologies (PoC), and continuously improve solution performance.

Collaborate with business users to define requirements - Work closely with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver valuable AI solutions.

Maintain and enhance data integration platform and strategy - Oversee data infrastructure to ensure quality, accessibility, and governance for AI deployment.

Ensure AI governance, compliance, and risk management - Manage risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote responsible AI use.

Work environment: Number of colleagues: Approximately 30-40, including overseas locations Work atmosphere: The workplace is bright and friendly. It has an open and free atmosphere, making it an environment where you can actively express your opinions and make new proposals.

Development environment: RPA(BluePrism), Microsoft 365 Copilot / Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry

Mandatory qualifications: - More than 3 years of experience in application development - OS: Windows, Linux - Programming languages: Python (or other programming languages) - Development tools: RPA (Blue Prism) or Power Automate - Other tools: GitHub, BitBucket

Desired qualifications: - Experience in AI agent development - Experience in requirements definition and business analysis - Basic design of web application development - Business process improvement - Ability to organize things while paying attention to detail - Ability to integrate and explain data in appropriate formats to stakeholders with various perspectives - Agile development - Development environment: Microsoft Azure - Development tools: Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Other AI agent development tools

Additional information on location: Attendance at the office is required 4 days a week.
