Test Civil Engineer

Job Requirements

Experience in the definition, planning and execution of test programmes to ensure they generate the required design development, verification or validation evidence, including as applicable through scaled tests or sub-element testing.

Delivery of design projects to time, cost, and quality.

Ability to convey design concepts / solutions to design and project teams (e.g. sketches / CAD / PI&Ds).

Experience in the development of design solutions from requirements through to detailed definition.

Experience in producing design definition documentation (requirements, engineering calculations, test specifications, technical drawings).

Appreciation of risk management principles.

Technical experience of steel and concrete structures such as buildings, retaining walls, foundations, fuel pools or similar, working to British Standards, Eurocodes and American standards (such as ACI, ASCE and ANSI).

Technical experience of working with modular structures in both steel and pre-cast concrete and other novel construction techniques involving high levels of integration with other disciplines, e.g. products with integrated mechanical, structural and EC&I elements.

Experience of working in the nuclear industry (or similar highly regulated industry) including experience in the design of seismically-qualified structures and those subjected to extreme external and internal hazards.

Experience of executing testing, design, research or development projects related to civil engineering, such as substantiation testing or development of steel or concrete structures/components.

Knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation, codes and standards (e.g. CDM, ANSI690, Eurocodes) would be preferred.

Work Experience

• Qualified to degree level or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline.
• Be professionally recognised through an appropriate professional body or be working towards it.
• Nuclear experience is desirable for this role but not required.
