Process Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Process Design & Optimization

• Develop and optimize unit operations to improve yield, energy efficiency, and reliability.
• Conduct mass/energy balances, heat integration studies, and debottlenecking assessments.
• Support start-up/shutdown, turnaround planning, and Management of Change (MoC).

Operations & Performance Monitoring

• Track KPIs (throughput, energy intensity, specific consumption, product quality) and create daily/weekly performance reports.
• Identify deviations, recommend corrective actions, and follow through on closure.

Troubleshooting & Reliability

• Lead or support root cause analyses for process upsets and equipment failures (columns, reactors, furnaces, compressors, flares).
• Collaborate with maintenance and inspection teams for corrective and preventive actions.

Methane Monitoring & GHG Calculation (Core Focus)

• Methane Emissions Detection & Quantification
  • Plan and execute LDAR campaigns using OGI cameras, Method 21, and flow measurement devices.
  • Coordinate with continuous methane monitoring sensors, handheld instruments, and—where available—drone, aerial, or satellite data to validate emission sources.
  • Build and maintain source inventories (fugitives, vents, tanks, compressors, pneumatic devices, flares).
• Data Management & Reporting
  • Build structured datasets and dashboards for emissions (e.g., by unit/source, monthly/annual trends).
  • Reconcile top-down vs. bottom-up estimates; perform methane mass balance checks at unit/site level.
  • Support reporting to corporate ESG, regulatory submissions, and voluntary frameworks (e.g., corporate sustainability reports, methane intensity targets, OGMP-style progress where applicable).

Work Experience

• Process engineer with 3 to 5 yrs experience
• Process engineering fundamentals
• Emissions quantification: fugitives, vents, combustion, flares; calculation of CO₂e using GWPs.
• LDAR methods (OGI, Method 21), understanding of sensor placement, detection limits, and survey design.
• Data analysis and visualization; reconciliation of measurement vs. estimation methods; uncertainty analysis.

Tools & Software

• Process simulation: Aspen HYSYS/Plus.
• Data & visualization: Excel (advanced), Power BI/Tableau; Python basics a plus (pandas, plots).
• PI Systems: PI Vision/PI DataLink for real-time plant data and performance tracking.
• Emissions tools: Company or industry calculators, emissions factor databases, LDAR data systems.
• Document control: SharePoint, quality systems, audit trails.
