What You Will Do:
- Support drawing and Bill of Material (BOM) updates for Generator components and assemblies.
- Interface with manufacturing and sourcing to assist in Non-Conformance Requests (NCRs) and Supplier Deviation Requests (SDRs).
- Perform updates to design documentation and instructions.
- Develop mechanical solutions, including design calculations to meet product and service needs.
- Develop mechanical, and testing plans for components and assemblies and oversee/perform actual tests as needed. Interpret test results and recommend appropriate actions.
- Work on RCA investigations for performance and warranty issues on generator stator components.
- Navigate component and assembly drawings and identify parts in BOM.
- Interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Utilize 3D models and finite element analysis (ANSYS Workbench).
- Utilize PLM and create change issues.
- Assist in engineering qualification of stator bars and Generator components with supplier.
- Assist in qualification of Generator components with supplier.
- Support dual source qualifications for punchings.
- Create, implement, and update test plans.
- Support qualification of outsourced Generators.
- Work with internal teams on interfaces and meeting technical requirements.
- Track weekly manufacturing progress at suppliers and respond to SDRs and update drawings/BOMs as necessary.
- Create BOMs and complete PLM assigned tasks.
- Support manufacturing and sourcing in Industrialization and Generator projects as well as qualification efforts to improve producibility.
What You Will Bring:
- BS in Mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university or college.
- 5 to 15 years of experience in mechanical design of Generator components and/or Power generation accessories.
- Knowledge of NCRs, SDRs, RCAs, PLM, Nx, GD&T is desired.
Pay Range: $70K to $100K
Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.
Work Requirements:
The work location is Schenectady, NY (no remote option)
- You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
- Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
