QuestDB Job Opportunity

QuestDB is the fastest growing time-series database in the world. As a specialized database, QuestDB stores, processes and analyzes time series data in real-time, with a focus on reliability, extreme performance and simplicity. It provides best-in-class hardware efficiency and robust features, saving costs and accelerating time-to-value.

Teams have had success with QuestDB across a wide range of industries, such as Financial Services, Energy, Manufacturing, Web3 and Space Exploration. Fortune 500 companies such as Airbus and Yahoo deploy QuestDB for large-scale, data-intensive production systems, serving close to a billion users. Emerging and disruptive startups also leverage QuestDB to gain a significant edge within traditional industries.

Our open source repository has gathered 14k+ stars in three years, and is the fastest growing in our category according to DB-Engines. We are a product-first company with a large community of developers. As a team, we are globally distributed, remote-first and backed by leading venture capital firms and Y Combinator.

The Role

At QuestDB, we're building the fastest open-source time-series database — engineered for real-time data, loved by developers, and battle-tested in production. We've got product-market fit and a thriving community. We need someone to focus on growing developer-led open source adoption and increase the reach of QuestDB across developer communities.

We're hiring a founding member of the go-to-market team to lead organic growth, community activation, and ecosystem visibility. This is a highly strategic and execution-heavy role where you'll focus on the high-leverage channels that matter most for open-source adoption: GitHub, Reddit, Hacker News, and AI-native search surfaces.

You'll work closely with the CEO, product, and engineering teams to build systems that drive product discoverability, contribute to long-term growth, and deepen QuestDB's presence in developer conversations.

Responsibilities

  • Nurture and grow the QuestDB GitHub community
  • Develop programs to engage contributors and active users
  • Participate in discussions and trends on developer-led communities such as Reddit and Hacker News
  • Collaborate with engineering to keep a pulse on community feedback, issues, and integrations
  • Build and maintain a repeatable growth playbook for our highest-performing channels: GitHub, Developer forums, Search
  • Optimize our presence across developer-facing surfaces for searchability, clarity, and relevance
  • Track analytics and performance across all channels
  • Partner with adjacent open-source and infrastructure projects to add value to the broader open-source ecosystem
  • Support partnerships with positioning and content that make QuestDB more usable and more visible
  • Build relationships with influential developers, technical creators, and niche communities to increase reach and credibility
  • Be the connective tissue between product, marketing, and engineering
  • Help shape the product roadmap by surfacing user understanding gaps
  • Act as a thought partner to the CEO on messaging, partnerships, and growth
  • Own simple, scalable systems for community growth, discoverability, and content workflows
  • Document repeatable playbooks and frameworks for future GTM hires

Requirements

  • You've worked on an open-source product and know what healthy community growth looks like
  • You know your way around GitHub and have optimized repos for contribution and discoverability
  • You've shipped content or programs that earned attention on Reddit, Hacker News, or other technical platforms
  • You understand the rise of AI-native search and how it changes how devs find tools
  • You're hands-on, creative, and systems-oriented — you build, measure, and iterate

Nice to Have

  • You've either been a founder, early operator, or built the GTM in a startup
  • You're familiar with databases, developer infrastructure, or time-series use cases
  • You write well and enjoy translating product value into things people want to read
