Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in space. Our high-mobility spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions with unmatched flexibility and propulsion capability. We build fast and iterate quickly.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer to lead requirements definition, system architecture, and technical execution across our spacecraft platforms. In this role, you will manage system and subsystem requirements, lead trade studies and design reviews, and act as a key technical interface across internal teams, customers, and partners. You will have the opportunity to influence the design of next-generation spacecraft while ensuring technical excellence from concept through delivery.

This role requires strong systems engineering expertise, experience with spacecraft subsystems (including propulsion), and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment balancing technical rigor with rapid execution. This role requires candidate to be on-site at our Hawthorne, CA, location.

Own and manage system and subsystem requirements from concept through flight delivery.

Lead trade studies, system architecture development, and mission applications for spacecraft and propulsion systems.

Perform system-level design, analysis, and verification activities across mechanical, electrical, fluids, and software subsystems.

Lead and participate in internal and external design reviews, ensuring requirements and design maturity.

Act as a technical interface with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, program management) and external partners (customers, subcontractors).

Implement and maintain rigorous verification and validation processes for both hardware and software.

Support spacecraft assembly, integration, and test activities, including environmental and functional testing.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements that enhance execution speed and reliability.

B.S. in Engineering, Physics, or related field (M.S. preferred).

5+ years of direct experience in spacecraft systems engineering, propulsion, or related subsystems.

Strong background in system and subsystem requirements development and management.

Proficiency with requirements management tools (e.g., Jama, JIRA, Flow).

Familiarity with CAD (SolidWorks or Creo) and analysis tools (ANSYS or equivalent).

Knowledge of spacecraft subsystem standards and interfaces.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

7+ years in spacecraft or propulsion system design, development, and testing.

Experience working with NASA and/or DoD programs.

Familiarity with plasma physics concepts or electric propulsion.

Analytical/scientific programming skills (Python, Matlab, Excel).

Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams.

Hands-on experience with spacecraft build, integration, and flight operations.

Knowledge of manufacturing methods (machining, composites, additive manufacturing).

The opportunity to design and deliver next-generation spacecraft systems.

See your work fly on real missions supporting national security, civil, and commercial customers.

Competitive salary, equity, and top-tier benefits: medical, dental, vision, generous leave, HSA, 401(k) matching, and equity sharing.
