Field Service Technician

Our client has engaged QPT in its search for Field Service Technicians that are dedicated to serving customers and willing to learn. As part of their team, you will work on various types of high-horsepower diesel engines used in power generation, marine, and locomotive applications.

Responsibilities:

• Apply the principles of mechanics, electricity, electronics, and hydraulics to perform troubleshooting, field repairs, rebuilds, and make technical decisions
• Disassembly, assembly, machining, welding, general fabrication, NDT inspection, wiring, and reading technical documents
• Communicate with the customers on-site throughout process
• This position requires all field service technicians to be available on-call occasionally in order to respond to customer needs and may require traveling extended periods of time, including weekends
• Perform follow-up services

Qualifications:

• Experience with basic measurement tools.
• Ability to recognize materials used to rebuild engines and components
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems
• Ability to weld or the capability to learn
• Ability to work in a team
• Employee provides own work tools (company partial payroll deduction for specialty tools)
• Willingness to learn to read, interpret, and work from mechanical and electrical blueprints/schematics
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Able to lift 60lbs.
• Experience with technician’s instruments and tools, both mechanical and electrical (Preferred)
• Experience reading, understanding, working from mechanical and electrical blueprints/schematics (Preferred)
