Electrical Engineer / Design Engineer

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting electronic and electromechanical systems for precision laboratory instruments. This includes analog and digital circuit design, PCB layout, component selection, system integration, simulation, and troubleshooting. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and performance, requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software developers, technicians, and scientists to deliver innovative tools for scientific and industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and test analog and digital circuits, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., UL, IEC, CE, IEEE, NEC).
  • Select electrical and mechanical components based on project requirements.
  • Develop and simulate system designs using CAD and circuit simulation tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks Electrical).
  • Build and evaluate prototypes to validate design performance and identify improvements.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in new and existing systems; recommend upgrades to enhance functionality and efficiency.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety-focused design principles to minimize hazards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align project goals, timelines, and resource needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including schematics, BOMs, test results, and assembly instructions.
  • Support post-installation troubleshooting and system enhancements.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and apply best practices to improve designs.
  • Contribute to product improvement initiatives through design optimization and technology integration.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects while managing budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. REQUIRED FOR CONSIDERATION
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience required; experience with AutoCAD Inventor or similar tools preferred.
  • Proficiency in analog/digital circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and electrical system integration.
  • Experience with circuit simulation, prototyping, and functional testing.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, microcontrollers, embedded systems, power supplies, and motor drives.
  • Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards (UL, IEC, CE, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Effective project management skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Skilled in producing technical documentation and design reports.
  • Continuous learner, staying updated on new components, tools, and design trends.
