Sales Representative – Agribusiness (Field-Based)

We are looking for a highly driven, field-oriented Sales Representative with a strong agricultural background to aggressively develop sales within an assigned region. This role is for a sales hunter: someone who enjoys being in the field, opening doors, convincing agro-dealers and farmers, building long-term relationships, and consistently pushing volumes. The successful candidate will carry selected products, and will be expected to take full ownership of sales growth in their territory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow sales of Balton Rwanda's product portfolio (crop protection, fertilizers, seeds, irrigation solutions)
  • Prospect, onboard, and manage agro-dealers, stockists, cooperatives, and key farmers
  • Push sales volumes through regular field visits, product demonstrations, and follow-ups
  • Convince customers through strong product knowledge and commercial negotiation
  • Organize sales either directly from stock in the vehicle or via customer/company transport

Territory Management

  • Own the assigned region including route planning and visit frequency
  • Travel extensively within the region; presence in Kigali approximately once per week
  • Build and maintain a strong local dealer network

CRM, Reporting & Technology

  • Use Zoho CRM daily to log visits, opportunities, and pipeline
  • Maintain accurate customer and sales records
  • Use smartphones, tablets, WhatsApp, and email professionally

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor competitors, pricing, and market trends
  • Provide regular feedback to management

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • Background in agriculture, agronomy, or agribusiness
  • Proven field sales experience
  • Strong commercial mindset and negotiation skills
  • Target-driven and results-oriented
  • Well organized and disciplined

Languages & Communication

  • English (good level)
  • Kinyarwanda (mandatory)

Other Requirements

  • Valid driving license
  • Willingness to travel extensively in the country
  • Existing agro-dealer network is a strong advantage
  • Passion for agriculture
