Sr Software Engineer
Our team writes software to automate the testing of various RF devices, which also involves the storage and analysis of that data. This also includes evaluating issues or new requests, mapping out a solution, and then the implementation and subsequent testing of that solution. Additionally, this position involves research into new technologies and evaluation of new hardware for continuous improvements.
Location(s): Greensboro, NC or Chelmsford, MA
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement automated RF test solutions to support the characterization and compliance testing of WiFi, LTE, and other power amplifiers, switches, and FEMs
- Designs, develops, and implements cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment for all phases of product development and manufacturing
- Software development using C#.NET, VB.NET, Python, etc
- Plans the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices
- Work with other engineering teams to develop automated RF test hardware and software platforms utilizing the latest industry technologies and capabilities
- Perform automated data collection on various devices to provide compliance reports and data to design teams and customers
- Train other engineers and technicians on platform use, RF test methodologies, and custom tool usage
- Create formal documentation of platform hardware, software, and system architecture
- RF test system architecture design using Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Network Analyzers, Power Meters, and PXI based RF/Digital/Analog equipment
- Evaluate and research new test equipment as well as evolving wireless standards and test methodologies
- Troubleshoot engineering issues (hardware and software)
- Use automated and manual methods for measuring and recording data for verification
- Characterize the DC and RF performance of wireless integrated circuits such as power amplifiers and RF switches
- Hardware development such as custom board layout for test systems
- Mentor junior engineers in the fundamentals of RF and microwave test engineering
- Lead by example and produce high-quality code that establishes coding standards and best practices for the team
- Perform code reviews and have your code reviewed by peers
- Investigate and resolve application issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies
- Effectively communicate technical and business risks to stakeholders to ensure that the most informed decisions are being made
- Be responsible for software architecture including determination of current limitations and compatibilities between subsystems, selection of new concepts and methodology, and development of major components
Qualifications:
- Software skills including VB.NET, C#.NET
- BS/MS EE or BS/MS CS degree or equivalent related course of study
- 5-10+ years related experience
- Experience in RF hardware and software test development using object-oriented programming languages such as C#.NET and VB.NET
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership and deal with ambiguity
- Experience with version control tools (Git)
- Strong experience in agile and test-driven methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with electronics device probing, soldering, and data analysis
- Highly motivated and independent
- Strong understanding of analog, digital, and RF theory preferred
- Experience with database development is helpful
