Mobile Engineering Manager
Join us as a Mobile Engineering Manager and help shape the mobile experience that empowers 600,000+ SMEs and their accountants to take full control of their finances. You will lead a team of talented iOS and/or Android engineers building high-impact accounting and bookkeeping features, under the guidance of Yanis, our Head of Engineering, and with the sponsorship of Steve, our co-founder.
As a Mobile Engineering Manager at Qonto, you will
- Lead a high-performing mobile team: Manage a team of 4 to 7 iOS or Android engineers embedded in a cross-functional accounting squad. Nurture their growth, remove blockers, and create the conditions for them to do their best work.
- Own your squad's success end-to-end: Work hand-in-hand with Product Managers and Designers to define strategy, shape the roadmap, and ship features that make a real difference for SMEs and accountants — from invoicing and bookkeeping to expense management and tax workflows.
- Drive engineering excellence on mobile: Set the bar for code quality, architecture, and mobile best practices across your team — from Swift/Kotlin fundamentals to CI/CD and automated testing.
- Build for scale: Hire top mobile talent, foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, and actively break silos between iOS, Android, and backend disciplines.
- Champion your engineers: Give regular feedback, run 1:1s, facilitate growth reviews, and advocate for your team's visibility — internally and externally.
What we're looking for
- Proven engineering background: You have hands-on experience building apps — you understand the constraints, the architecture patterns, and what it takes to ship quality at scale.
- Accounting domain awareness: You've worked on accounting, bookkeeping, invoicing, or tax-related products — or you have a strong understanding of how accountants work and what they need from software. You're comfortable navigating complex domain logic and helping your team do the same.
- People-first leadership: You've managed engineers before and know how to grow people, not just ship code. You create psychological safety, value failure as a learning tool, and lead with empathy.
- Product mindset: You understand the business impact of mobile — and you don't just execute on specs. You challenge, contribute, and co-own the product direction with your PM and designer.
- Strong communication in English: You can articulate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders and bridge the gap between mobile and backend teams naturally.
What you'll get
- A mobile team of 100+ engineers across iOS and Android, distributed in cross-functional squads — one of the largest in European fintech.
- A native stack built for quality: Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android), with a shared design system, clean architecture principles, and a CI built on GitLab, Bitrise, Firebase and Sonar.
- Unlimited access to the best AI tools on the market — Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Dust, Notion AI.
- A squad culture where autonomy is the default: your team owns its roadmap and ships without red tape.
- Knowledge sharing at scale: internal conferences, Tech Monthlies, and a community of engineers who genuinely want to level up together.
About your future manager
You'll report to Yanis, Head of Engineering — but don't expect micro-management.
Yanis grew from Lead Engineer to Head of Engineering over 4 years at Qonto. He's a pragmatic generalist who's built payment integrations from scratch and is equally comfortable on the frontend and backend. His approach: give people real ownership, create a culture where sharing failures is as valued as sharing wins, and get out of the way so the team can ship.
Hiring Process
- 2 Interviews (1 hour each): first with your Talent Acquisition Manager, then with Yanis or one of his team leads
- A live exercise (2 hours) to explore how you think about people, product, and engineering — and give you a real taste of life at Qonto
We aim to keep the full process under 10 days, from first interview to potential offer.
If you've read this far and thought "that sounds like me but I don't check every box" — apply anyway. We hire on potential and mindset, not checklists.
