Psomas is seeking a skilled Resident Engineer to join our Construction Services team on a temporary, part-time project specific basis. In this role, you will lead public works infrastructure projects with a focus on collaboration and innovative problem-solving. You'll manage day-to-day project oversight, resolve challenges proactively, and ensure contract compliance. This position also calls for versatility, including supporting construction inspection, documentation, and other tasks with independence and precision.

This position primarily supports South-End projects (mainly south of Renton through greater Olympia) and may require variable working hours depending on project needs.

Responsibility Highlights for our Resident Engineer:

• Serve as the primary liaison among the Contractor, Agency, and stakeholders, including utilities, emergency services, transit agencies, school districts, and the public
• Ensure compliance with contract documents and regulatory requirements throughout project execution
• Track and manage potential change orders, assessing impacts on cost and schedule
• Review and approve submittals, such as materials, traffic control plans, and construction methods
• Evaluate project schedules during preconstruction and oversee progress to meet milestones and minimize delays
• Lead and document regular meetings with project stakeholders to ensure alignment and address issues proactively

Minimum Qualifications to be our Resident Engineer:

• 5+ years of relative experience
• Valid Driver License and clean driving record
• Ability to work in an active construction site, including walking over uneven terrain, being outdoors in inclement weather, and wearing proper safety equipment and practicing industry safety protocols
• Familiarity with WSDOT Standard Specifications and WSDOT Standard Plans, including ADA requirements

Preferred Qualifications for our Resident Engineer:

• Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
• Professional Engineering license
• 10+ years of construction experience related to roadway/ infrastructure work

• A competitive salary! The genuinely expected range for this position is $48 - $61/hour depending on experience. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for a Senior Resident Engineer position with compensation up to $70/hour
