Senior Account Manager – Public Sector (Germany)
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Account Manager with a proven track record in SaaS sales into the German public sector. This role is ideal for a sales professional who understands the complexities of public sector procurement and has successfully navigated enterprise-level deals with government, healthcare, or insurance organizations in Germany.
You will be responsible for establishing strong business relationships at the executive level, conducting sales presentations, coordinating multiple resources within an account, while consistently and successfully closing business for Proofpoint.
This role will demand interaction with large-scale public sector organizations at the CIO, CSO, and CISO level, as well as with technical staff within the security and IT functions.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Drive new business by hunting and developing public sector accounts (e.g., local government, healthcare, insurance).
- Leverage your experience and network to convert prospects into long-term customers by clearly differentiating our solutions from the competition.
- Collaborate closely with System Engineers to develop account strategies, build tailored value propositions, and deliver compelling product demonstrations.
- Work with channel partners to expand reach and gain access to new accounts.
- Ensure operational excellence through accurate forecasting, pipeline management in Salesforce (SFDC), and disciplined sales execution.
- Stay current on our competitive landscape and articulate our unique value in the market.
What You Bring to the Team
- Extensive experience in SaaS sales, with a strong and verifiable track record of exceeding revenue targets in the German public sector.
- Deep understanding of public sector sales cycles, procurement processes, and stakeholder management.
- Ideally, experience in selling enterprise security or IT solutions; however, exceptional candidates from other SaaS domains are welcome.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders, including CISOs and IT decision-makers, as a trusted advisor.
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English, with the ability to clearly articulate complex value propositions.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in Salesforce and other sales tools.
- Existing relationships within the German public sector are a strong plus.
