Role Overview

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer at Promise, you'll be responsible for creating interfaces and frameworks that allow individuals facing financial difficulty to directly interact with essential public services. You'll use modern web tools like React, TypeScript, and GraphQL to streamline the flow of data from backend services to web pages, guide users through various flows, and ultimately build a powerful yet easy-to-use product.

Being in the early stages of our product development provides you with a unique opportunity to leave a significant imprint on our software architecture and user experience. Join us in our fast-paced, growth-driven environment where your code will make a direct impact on people's lives and improve government efficiency.

What You'll Do

  1. Design and deliver efficient and reusable front-end systems, orchestration layers, and components that will directly impact thousands of monthly users.
  2. Collaborate with designers and project managers to develop a compelling end-user experience on our web applications.
  3. Experiment with new design patterns, tooling, and frameworks and advocate for ways they can improve our applications.
  4. Identify and resolve issues in the product to maintain a high quality bar for our work.
  5. Collaborate with backend engineers to define services and APIs that the front-end consumes (and contribute backend code yourself when needed to unblock projects).

What Will Enable You

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in full-stack software development building impactful user interfaces, preferably working in startups or other highly dynamic environments.
  • A heartfelt commitment to creating software that centers around equity and accessibility.
  • Proficiency with modern front-end programming languages and web technologies. While we use React/TypeScript, we are looking for people who can write good front-end code regardless of framework.
  • Proven track record of working independently and making decisions without direct oversight.
  • An inclusive approach to teamwork, valuing diverse perspectives, and being eager to both share your insights and gain wisdom from those around you.

Benefits and Work Environment

At Promise, we invest in our team's well-being, growth, and sense of ownership.

  • Equity for All: All full-time employees receive stock options to share in our company's success.
  • 100% Paid Health Coverage: We cover 100% of base medical, dental, and vision insurance plans for employees and their dependents.
