Product Owner & Systems Engineer

We're looking for a Product Owner & Systems Engineer to join our team and drive the development of the Weapon System Simulator (WSS). This critical system is vital for the testing of the Fire Control system for Ohio Class Submarines, ensuring the highest standards of readiness and performance. The WSS team is responsible for a sophisticated system that simulates hardware interfaces to enable rigorous testing within the Engineering Test Station (ETS). As the Product Owner and Systems Engineer, you'll be the technical and product vision leader for this cross-functional team, guiding the development, integration, and maintenance of the WSS. You'll bridge the gap between stakeholder needs and technical execution, ensuring our simulations accurately replicate the behavior of VME hardware, software, and network components. This role is a unique blend of product management and systems engineering. You will own the product backlog, define requirements, and prioritize features to meet program objectives. You will also leverage your systems engineering expertise to understand the technical architecture, troubleshoot complex issues, and guide the team in developing robust and scalable solutions.

We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences:

  • A background working in a product owner or similar leadership role within a technical environment.
  • Experience with VME hardware or other similar real-time embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with network architectures and virtualization technologies, such as Cisco networks, Red Hat, and hypervisors.

What sets you apart:

  • Success leading the systems development life cycle with strong proficiency with requirements management and system modeling tools
  • Creative thinker motivated to apply technical standards and methodologies to develop solutions
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to provide technical leadership and position others for success
  • Strong presentation and communications skills with experience in the art of negotiation and the ability to meet challenging customer requirements with win-win solutions
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others

Our Commitment to You:

  • An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development.
  • Research oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation's security
  • Flexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)
  • Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health & wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and more
