School Support Specialist

Primrose School of Sioux Falls at Heather Ridge is seeking a dedicated, experienced early childhood professional to serve as our School Support Specialist.

This is primarily a classroom-based position, with additional cross-training across administrative and operational functions to support the overall success of our school. Position Overview

The School Support Specialist will spend the majority of their time supporting in classrooms — maintaining ratios, assisting lead teachers, building relationships with children and families, and ensuring our Balanced Learning® curriculum is implemented with excellence. When classroom coverage is not needed, this individual will be cross-trained to assist with administrative functions and kitchen support, making them a key operational team member who can step in wherever needed. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants to grow beyond a traditional classroom-only position.

Primary Responsibilities (Classroom Focus)

• Provide daily classroom support across Infant, Toddler, Early Preschool, Preschool, and Pre-K classrooms
• Step into classrooms when teachers are absent or additional support is needed
• Maintain proper ratios and licensing compliance
• Support implementation of Primrose's Balanced Learning® curriculum
• Build nurturing, responsive relationships with children
• Communicate professionally with families
• Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and safety standards

This classroom support will make up the majority of the position.

Secondary Responsibilities (Cross-Training Support)

Administrative Support

• Assist with front desk coverage as needed
• Support enrollment tours and family engagement
• Help maintain compliance documentation and licensing files
• Assist leadership with scheduling and operational logistics

Kitchen & Nutrition Support

• Assist with meal preparation and service when the chef is absent
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
• Support kitchen organization and cleanliness

Qualifications

• Extensive background in early childhood education required
• Experience in a licensed childcare center strongly preferred
• Comfortable working with children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K
• Flexible, dependable, and solution-oriented
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain)

Compensation

This is a full-time salaried position:

• $37,440 – $43,680 annually
• School is open 6:30am-6:00pm | Schedule may vary
