Principal Systems Engineer

Our Ghent, KY facility is currently seeking to fill Principal Systems Engineer role.

Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally when required
• 10 years minimum experience with Level 1 and Level 2 automation in continuous casting equipment
• 10 years minimum experience in the field of automation relative to hydraulics and high voltage electrical
• Capable of reading, analyzing and reporting on IBA files within the operating systems on continuous casters
• Successful experience in the design of human-machine interface design

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, implement and maintain fiber optic systems, special equipment, and robotics interfacing with fully automated casting equipment and components, using mechanical, electronic and computer engineering principles.
• Ensure the final product is fit for purpose, meets project requirements, has the appropriate safety standards, the selection of components is cost effective and established timelines are met.
• Integrate mechanical and electronic components to create functional and efficient systems.
• Conduct testing and simulations to evaluate performance, identify potential improvements and ensure systems meet reliability and safety standards.
• Prepare technical reports for internal and external business partners
• Responsible for technical training of customers and employees of Primetals USA
• Reduce production costs through the implementation of new methods and process optimization
• Act as the primary customer contact for Level 1 and Level 2 in the operation of continuous casting machines
• Lead training both onsite and at the customer location of Level 1 and Level 2 engineers, technicians and electricians in areas of technical development and failure analysis of fully automated continuous casters
• Responsible for human-machine interface (HMI) function/problem resolution.
• Lead a team of engineers and specialists in the fields of automation, electrical and hydraulics
