Transportation Liaison

FTE Coverage for a short term leave. Location: Remote Schedule: This is a virtual, full-time (40 hr/week). 9:00am-6:00pm Monday-Saturday with rotating day off Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position. NICE TO HAVE SKILLSETS: • Strong system navigation • Problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure • Effective multitasking in a fast-paced environment PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responds and answers incoming internal/external calls and places calls when necessary in a timely fashion. • Acts as a point of contact for dispatch, customers, customer service, sales, team leads and others with questions or needs regarding transportation or supplies and/or pertinent routing and sample/supply shipment questions from vendors. • Provides weekend/third shift coverage for issue handling and resolution, acting as a direct resource for escalations supporting business units in transportation, supply and dispatch-related requests. • Provides proactive supply tracking and customer resolution by running daily reports validating fulfillments. • Provides impromptu feedback and guidance to team members and Supervisors in regard to process changes, updates and service concerns or failures impacting customers, the transportation team or customers' supply or service offering. • May serve as direct contact for drivers for on-the-fly issue resolution; logs and educates the appropriate supervisor of any routing-related service concern. • Creates/maintains data warehouse for driver contacts, contract courier contacts and routing information (such as destination, relay routes and hand-offs), using information to support transportation functions at night and on weekends. • Monitors daily completion status of routes, providing support to the transportation supervisory team and dispatch to ensure the completion and accuracy of all routes daily. • May serve as point of contact for Lasership and other pertinent sample shipment/ transportation routing personnel. • Monitors daily line hauls and/or flight boxes and inbound FedEx shipments, focusing on receipt of samples from remote markets and communicating potential delays to both internal/external customers. • Works in line with additional transportation liaison staff, supporting ongoing shipments, tracking and transportation-related support functions. • May manage and monitor the completion of Google Docs for all regions. • May communicate potential flight adjustments due to airline changes. • Performs other duties as required. EDUCATION: • High school diploma or equivalent. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Ability to work well with others in a friendly professional environment, which can involve stressful situations at times. • Ability to operate video display terminal to reference account information and route assignments. • Clerical ability including typing, sorting, filing and data entry. • Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner. • Ability to understand and follow departmental goals and policies. • Ability to provide client courier pickup schedules from resources accurately. • Helps maintain a clean and safe work environment. • Must have ability to maintain individual goals and job performance within guidelines. • Maintains office equipment such as business computers and office fax machine in working condition. • Must have visual ability to perform close-up work. • Must be able to speak and communicate easily with others. • Basic computer skills required (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). • Ability to utilize internal Internet Explorer. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Eyesight, hearing and speech are required for the essential functions of this job. • Sitting at workstation for extended periods of time. • Evening and weekend work may be required. • North America - a person using, a wheelchair could perform most of the essential functions of this job if the desk and/or automobile was able to be adjusted or modified to meet their needs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: In this role: • You'll answer and respond to incoming internal/external calls and place outbound calls when necessary in a timely fashion. • You'll monitor and respond to issue elevations coming into our Transportation Liaison Outlook Inbox from internal and external customers. • You'll act as a point of contact for customers, customer service, sales, lab operations members and our transportation vendors. • You'll provide impromptu feedback and guidance to team members and Supervisors regarding process changes, updates and service concerns or failures impacting customers or the transportation team. • You may serve as direct contact for vendors for on-the-fly issue resolution; you'll log and educate the appropriate supervisor of any routing-related service concern. • You'll monitor daily coverage and completion status of routes, providing support to the Transportation Supervisory team. • You'll Monitor daily line hauls, air shipments and inbound FedEx and UPS shipments, focusing on receipt of samples from remote markets and communicating potential delays to both internal/external customers. • You'll work with the transportation liaison staff, supporting ongoing shipments and transportation-related support functions. • You'll monitor and communicate potential flight adjustments due to commercial airline schedule changes. What you'll need to succeed: • You have a flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends as required. • You have outstanding Customer Service experience and skills • You can multitask between forms of technology and different computer programs (phone, software, Outlook, Service Cloud, Genesys Cloud etc.) • You have outstanding and demonstrable communication skills • Strong organizational skills, especially in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment • Ability to be on the computer and/or phone for 8 hours a day. • Logistics and/or transportation experience is highly preferred.
