Project Engineer

The Project Engineer will support cross-functional engineering initiatives and help drive a high-performance operational culture in a plant that features conventional and additive manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will (1) bring a project management skillset to assist the General Manager and Operations Manager with driving productivity; (2) pull together part quality documentation in parallel with manufacturing to aid in putting together part quality packages that will allow more time for inspectors to inspect parts; and (3) manage the environmental, health and safety and 6S sectors of the plant, promoting safe work practices and ensuring the facility is in regulatory compliance. This is an exempt salaried position reporting to the General Manager.

Role requires the ability to obtain a Secret clearance or higher.

API plant operations are conducted Mondays through Thursdays.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with all departments to champion engineering best practices that will improve daily efficiency, processes, throughput, defect reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and coordinate engineer projects throughout the full lifecycle of a part.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including schedules, technical reports, risk registers, and configuration control.
  • Coordinate qualification and validation activities for both conventional and additive manufacturing processes.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement events.
  • Pull together part quality documentation in parallel with manufacturing to aid in putting together part quality packages that will allow more time for inspectors to inspect parts.
  • Support quality audits and customer quality requirements across assigned programs.
  • Manage the environmental, health and safety, and 6S segment of the plant.
  • Provide support and guidance for operations in safe workplace procedures, OSHA compliance, safety training, emergency response, hazards identification, and hazardous material management.
  • Drive 6S activities to reduce scrap, improve process flow, within engineering and production workspaces, ensuring consistency, audit readiness, and team engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Proficient Computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
  • Process Improvement.
  • Communication – Verbal and Written.
  • Functional and Technical Skills.
  • Consistent attention to detail.
  • Capable of lifting/moving 35 pounds.

Experience and Education:

  • U.S. Person status.
  • Engineering degree preferred but not required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Aerospace experience a plus.
