Facilities Maintenance Engineer
The Facilities Maintenance Engineer supports aerospace manufacturing operations by ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of facility systems and equipment.
This hands-on role involves approximately 80% of time on the shop floor, working directly with maintenance teams, production staff, and cross-functional departments to troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and drive continuous improvement. The remaining 20% is focused on planning, data analysis, and process optimization.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial equipment maintenance, facility systems management, and process improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma. This role also includes identifying obsolete machinery and components, creating technical drawings for replacement parts, and managing critical spares through structured tool crib processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs for facility and production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and infrastructure issues to minimize downtime and support production goals.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using engineering principles and data analysis to enhance equipment performance and facility efficiency.
- Oversee critical facility systems including HVAC, compressed air, electrical, and water systems.
- Plan and manage facility-related capital projects, including equipment installations and layout modifications.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, environmental regulations, and internal safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, equipment specifications, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, quality, and safety to support operational excellence.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and repairs when needed.
- Promote a culture of safety through training, hazard identification, and proactive risk mitigation.
- Identify obsolete machines and components and create detailed technical drawings to support the sourcing or fabrication of replacement parts.
- Review and restructure maintenance-related processes, including tool crib operations, to ensure proper tracking and availability of critical spare parts.
- Confirm, standardize, and organize all machine manuals to ensure complete and accessible documentation for all equipment.
