Design Engineer

Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. Wyman-Gordon Pennsylvania, a division of Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC), is a manufacturing leader of Flash Welded and Cold Rolled near net shaped rings. We are currently seeking a highly motivated person to fill a Design Engineer & AFCO role for the Mountaintop facility located in Northeast Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate for us is willing to learn a new industry and aimed to provide exceptional service. Job Summary:

Responsible for generating cost estimates and ensuring trade compliance by providing front-end design reviews and internal trade compliance practices. Estimates include raw material, tooling, in-house and outside operational costs. Estimates also include the design of Wyman Gordon PA manufacturing drawings. This position works closely with sales, operations, process engineering, and the Facility Compliance Manager in the timely delivery of quotations and implementation of trade compliance regulations.

Design Engineer general functions include but are not limited to:

  • Manage quote log and track win/loss.
  • Design manufacturing drawings for new parts with optimization for most efficient manufacturing process. Revise manufacturing drawings for existing parts as needed. (CAD skills preferred).
  • Obtain price quotations from outside vendors for required operations.
  • Generate cost estimates using information from Purchasing, Process Engineering, Operations, and Outside Vendors.
  • Aid in projects designed to reduce cost and improve lead time
  • Providing technical guidance to the Sales Department.

Assistant Facility Compliance Officer functions include but are not limited to, assisting the Facility Compliance Officer (FCO) in the following:

  • Visitor and Denied Party Management System
  • Process Foreign Person Visitor Request
  • General Awareness and New Hire Training
  • Commercial Invoice Review
  • House Airway bill review
  • Shipping Letter of Instruction Approvals
  • License determinations
  • Import duty and taxes
  • Annual Audits

Requirements:

  • College degree or a minimum of 4 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and e-mails regarding parts.
  • Experience with AutoCad a plus
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • 10-15% Travel (yearly)
