Technical Service Representative

As a Technical Service Representative, you will serve as PPG's onsite representative, ensuring customer satisfaction with our Automotive Coatings products. You will deliver exceptional customer service with a strong focus on color and appearance control to meet customer specifications. This role partners closely with Plant Operations and Management to support customer success, achieve PPG business objectives, and drive continuous improvement and effective problem resolution.

Specialized training will be provided for the role. This position reports to the Optima Solutions Regional Manager and you will be based onsite at our customer's location in Kendallville, Indiana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing activities of PPG onsite at customer automotive production facilities and communicate logically with initiative to understand customer concerns, collect data, take appropriate actions, and resolve problems.
  • Ensure accurate reporting to the Paint process team.
  • Communicate updates with PPG Technical and Account management, direction of the PPG on site team activity, and promote Health, Safety, and Environmental mentorship is always followed.
  • Providing resolutions to customer inquiries, application process monitoring, mix-room supervisors, inventory, material ordering, and hands-on support; followed by a written daily shift report.
  • Follow safe work practices, with mechanical aptitude to explain complex ideas across technical, production and non-technical personnel to satisfy customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in Automotive Paint/Coatings such as paint mixing, application, spray booth, or similar experience in industrial or OEM coatings.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Thrives in a team-based environment, partnering with others to solve challenges.
  • Comfortable working in a customer production environment, around automated equipment, and be able lift 30 lbs. on a limited basis.
  • Willingness to work 1st or 2nd shift as needed, along with occasional evening or weekend hours.
