Intumescent Field Technical Support Specialist
The Intumescent Field Technical Support Specialist will provide expert technical assistance to customers and PPG associates, focusing primarily on the cellulosic and hydrocarbon intumescent product ranges within PPG Protective Coatings. This field-based role requires extensive travel across Europe, with occasional trips beyond the region. Flexibility to accommodate short-notice travel is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver hands-on training and certification for applicators in the correct application of hydrocarbon and cellulosic intumescent coatings, utilizing both hand and spray techniques.
- Support project execution by providing technical guidance and troubleshooting on-site.
- Collaborate closely with the PPG Protective Coatings Technical team and other colleagues to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including commissioning, installation, testing, and maintenance services.
- Investigate and coordinate resolution of product complaints as necessary.
- Prepare detailed visit reports and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
- Share knowledge and best practices within the team, contributing to continuous learning and improvement.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven practical experience in the application of hydrocarbon and cellulosic intumescent coatings, with a strong understanding of associated products.
- Skilled in both hand and spray application methods, with the ability to effectively communicate application procedures and their rationale to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and make informed decisions independently.
- Experience working under general supervision, capable of managing technical support activities efficiently.
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written, with strong report-writing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently as required.
- Relevant coating inspector certification such as FROSIO, NACE, or equivalent is desirable.
- Valid driving license.
- Offshore work qualification is highly desirable.
