As an inbound packaging engineer, you will play a crucial role in leading projects focused on safety, quality, cost savings, operator efficiency, and returnable packaging, ensuring the secure and efficient delivery of materials to our plants. This collaborative position involves working with teams across sourcing, new product development, logistics, and plant operations, where your project management skills and technical knowledge will improve operational efficiency and generate cost savings. Responsibilities
- Lead inbound packaging initiatives, including safety, quality, cost savings, operator efficiency, and transitioning to returnable packaging, while managing total cost solution models and capital expenditure requests
- Develop and implement innovative packaging strategies, providing technical expertise in design, testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring product and packaging integrity through physical testing and analysis
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sourcing, engineering, logistics, and plant operations to execute packaging improvement and new product development projects, including defining optimal packaging options
- Manage multiple projects across various stages, ensuring successful execution through effective planning, validation, and continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Packaging Engineering with relevant internship experience OR other Engineering/technical degree with 2+ years of pertinent packaging engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency with 3D modeling tools like Creo & SolidWorks.
- Proven cross-functional project management experience with a track record of delivering process improvements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable managing ambiguity and balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with data visualization or modeling tools like Alteryx is a plus
Working Conditions
- Hybrid office environment (3 days in office, 2 days of flex)
The starting pay range for Minnesota is $75,000 to $90,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
