As an Enterprise Engineer Sr within PNC’s Remote Network enterprise infrastructure organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Phoenix, AZ. Additional locations listed. This position is primarily based in a location within PNC’s footprint. PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position.

We are seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Network Engineer Sr to join our Remote Network enterprise infrastructure team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting robust network solutions across our business offices, branches, and remote environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in routing and switching, wired and wireless technologies, and hands-on experience with multiple network OEMs. A passion for innovation, experimentation with emerging technologies, and familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., financial services) are key to success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Design & Implementation: Architect and deploy enterprise-grade network solutions across LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments.
  • Configure and optimize routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) and switching technologies (e.g., VLANs, STP, EtherChannel).
  • Design and support wireless networks including site surveys, RF planning, and performance tuning.
  • Multi-Vendor Expertise: Work across a diverse ecosystem of network OEMs (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto). Evaluate vendor solutions and contribute to technology selection and standardization efforts. Troubleshoot and resolve complex multi-vendor interoperability issues.
  • Innovation & Emerging Technologies: Experiment with and evaluate new technologies such as SD-WAN, Wi-Fi 6/7, SASE, and 5G. Collaborate with product and architecture teams to pilot and scale innovative solutions. Contribute to automation and observability initiatives using tools like Ansible, Python, and network monitoring platforms.
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor network performance, availability, and security using enterprise tools. Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts. Maintain documentation, diagrams, and configuration standards.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure network designs and operations align with regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, FFIEC). Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement secure network architectures and controls.

Preferred Skills

Certifications: CCNP, CWNP, JNCIP, or equivalent. Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible). Familiarity with network observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, UXI, ThousandEyes). Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and hybrid connectivity models.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university/college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $80,000.00 – $192,050.00 Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
