EMEA Financial Shared Services Associate - GL Operations

Position Summary
The EMEA Associate GL Operations is a key member of the EMEA Financial Shared Services (FSS) Team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the books and record for multiple legal entities. This role requires strong accounting operations expertise, preferably gained in a multicultural finance environment, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused service.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail, a positive attitude, and strong collaboration skills. They will regularly interface with various departments, including Operational Finance, Corporate Controllership, and Purchasing, as well as external stakeholders. This position is well-suited for a service-oriented professional who thrives in a high-volume environment and takes pride in accuracy, compliance, and process efficiency.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and implement effective, SOX-compliant accounting processes.
- Manage monthly and quarterly close processes for assigned entities.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and related journal entries.
- Coordinate with external service providers for the preparation of local statutory reports.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and country-specific accounting requirements.
- Drive process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume environment.
- Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships across the organization.
- Proactively engage with internal and external partners to fulfill responsibilities.
- Support and lead ongoing process improvement projects.
- Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in general accounting, including exposure to IFRS and US GAAP.
- Experience with a large, international organization strongly preferred.
- Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); ERP experience preferred.
