2026 Summer Internship – Us Trade Floor Operations Analyst (Cash Desk, Middle Office, Investment Operations)

Internship positions are located at PIMCO's Newport Beach, CA Headquarters. You're eligible to apply if you:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree
  • Must be able to begin full time employment at a PIMCO office between January 2027 – August 2027
  • Must be enrolled at a university during the Fall 2026 semester (August 2026 – December 2026)
  • Have a minimum 3.2 cumulative collegiate grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) at an accredited 4-year college or university
  • Are business proficient in English

You'll excel in this program if you:

  • Demonstrate advanced Microsoft Excel skills and/or Python, SQL, VBA
  • Show a strong interest in the financial markets, macroeconomics, and investment finance
  • Possess outstanding analytical skills with the ability to function efficiently and problem-solve in a fast paced and time-critical environment
  • Show outstanding communication skills which enable you to operate in a complex financial and mathematical environment
  • Have acute attention to detail and an aptitude for managing multiple competing priorities with minimal oversight or direction
  • Show the following traits: assertiveness, ethical, collaborative, organized, flexible, high energy, self-starter, accountable, humble
  • Have undertaken finance, fixed income, and/or capital markets coursework (recommended)

As a CEP intern within the US Trade Floor Operations Support group, you'll have the opportunity to develop your career by learning about and working within the following three teams:

Cash Desk:

The Cash Desk is one of the key operational units at PIMCO, responsible for managing cash, reporting client cash flows, and providing internal cash forecasts in all client accounts, mutual funds, and hedge funds. The team works closely with the Portfolio Management group to ensure projected overdrafts are covered and facilitates the investment of excess cash into liquid securities. The Cash Desk interacts regularly with a diverse group of professionals, including: portfolio managers, account managers, internal operations groups, clients, State Street IMS, and custodian banks.

Middle Office:

The Middle Office primary responsibility is management and governance over a key control environment that supports the day-to-day trade life cycle of the PIMCO Portfolio Management team. Middle Office team members will collaborate across internal functional teams: Portfolio Management, Trade Support, Legal & Compliance, Operations, Technology and State Street IMS (back office). In addition, the Middle Office will regularly engage with external parties such as broker dealers, custodian banks and third-party trading platforms.

Investment Operations:

Investment Operations (IO) is comprised of 2 teams, Investment Operations and Corporate Actions. The Investment Operations team mainly focuses on new securities, emerging market capabilities, FX execution means, claim and break resolution as well as custodial oversight. The Corporate Action Team oversees mandatory and voluntary corporate actions events, restructuring activities, proxy, bank loan amendments, defaulted securities processing, and class actions. Both teams in IO interact with all areas of PIMCO as well as all of State Street Bank, the broker dealer community and clients’ custodian banks.

While our eligibility requirements are not flexible, we encourage you to apply even if you do not possess 100% of the desired skills outlined above.

  • The PIMCO Internship Program runs between Monday, June 8 – Friday, August 14, 2026, with the expectation that you will be available for the full duration of the program

  • Once you complete the assessment, you will have a final round of live interviews with us via video conference. These interviews typically include both behavioral and technical questions
