Picogrid

Connect, command, and control sensors and autonomous systems at global scale.

Picogrid Job Opportunity

Picogrid builds hardware and software infrastructure to connect and control the systems that power critical industries. Our platform unifies sensors, platforms, and operators to power mission planning, autonomous system control, and real-time decision-making.

We partner directly with operators, technology companies, and federal agencies to deliver rapidly deployable, mission-critical capabilities where they're needed most, often on short timelines and in challenging conditions. Our technology is trusted in active operations, not just test environments, and we move quickly to close real-world capability gaps for those on the front lines.

Joining Picogrid means working on high-impact problems at the intersection of autonomy, national security, and cutting-edge technology. You'll be part of a small, elite team that builds and ships systems used by the leading organizations around the world. We operate with urgency, ownership, and a deep respect for the mission.

About The Team

Picogrid is building out our vendor-neutral data integration layer, Legion. Legion is a platform that connects government and commercial systems across various domains and command layers for mission autonomy and base defense. The Legion team is at the heart of Picogrid. We are creating mission-capable systems that serve the warfighter in all environments and domains. On the Legion team, you will be constantly innovating building resilient, scalable, and flexible systems that will shape the future of defense capabilities by building a robust self-service integration platform. If you're passionate about building technology that supports the warfighter, first responders, and commercial customers, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  1. Travel up to 50% of time to meet with customers and deliver various integration capabilities.
  2. Engineer and own end-effect integrations that connect with our edge hardware as well as hybrid-based software integrations that run in Legion.
  3. Write code for our core product offerings.
  4. Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams to plan, build, and deliver complex software features and integrations.
  5. Help deliver core product functionality for our Integration Platform and Edge OS.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Developer Relations with experience in Fullstack Development.
  • Strong collaboration skills, particularly in distributed systems, autonomy platforms, data pipelines, and edge software.
  • Experience in engaging directly with end users to understand mission needs, conduct valuable user testing, and incorporate product feedback into the development process.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary team environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate with complex government IT ecosystems, including data platforms, Identity and Access Management (IdAM) providers, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, and Cross Domain Solutions (CDSs).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Top Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or inventing something such as an app, a video game, a startup, an app/integration in a SaaS platform.
  • Experience supporting Golang, Python, and/or React applications
  • Experience with various Communication APIs such as REST, GRPC, GraphQL, MQTT.
  • Experience with hybrid operating environments (cloud, on-prem, edge) and deploying software across these areas.
  • Experience building software solutions in a regulated environment for requirements such as: DOD RMF, FedRAMP ATO, NIST 800-53
  • Ability to simplify complexity and make fast, sound decisions under pressure

Bonus Points

  • You have experience dealing with low-latency FMV, video storage, video replay
  • You have experience developing TAK (iTAK, ATAK, WinTAK, TAKx, TAK Server) plugins
  • Deep fluency in tactical data & video standards โ€” CoT, STANAG 4609/4601, MISB KLV, MAVLink, NMEA, ONVIF/RTSP.
  • Disconnected / contested-environment DevOps โ€” containerized delivery (Docker/K3s), resilient mesh networking, store-and-forward queues, and OTA updates that survive SATCOM drop-outs.
  • Multi-sensor fusion expertise โ€” building correlation and track-merging services that power autonomous cue-to-target workflows across air, land, and sea.

Who You Are

  • You are someone who has a bias towards action. You take ownership of situations even if you don't "own" the area in question.
  • You have an ownership mentality, you own the full problem space from initial thought through to delivery.
  • You build opinions and champion those opinions based on personal experience, customer interactions/feedback, or other data.
  • You are naturally curious and strive to learn more.
  • You do the right thing, you don't wait to be told
  • You have experience or general interest in the defense industry, whether that's professional experience at a company or you were a rifleman on the ground
  • You maintain a product mindset, you don't just build things to pump up your ego, you build for the customer and ensure you are building as a means to solve a problem
