General Job Description:

This is full performance/journey level stationary engineering work operating and maintaining high-tonnage pressurized boiler and chiller systems and related components in a large physical plant facility. Employees in this class on an assigned shift monitors the systems' automation, checking and adjusting temperature and pressure readings and maintaining refrigerant, chemical and water levels in the systems.

The Requirements are as follows:

  • Education: Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade.
  • License: Possession of a valid grade "A" Steam Boiler, Stationary and Refrigeration Engineer license as issued by the Philadelphia Department of Licenses & Inspections.
  • Experience: Three years of experience in the stationary engineer trade which has included operating and maintaining high-tonnage pressurized boiler and chiller systems and related components or heating, cooling and ventilation repair or maintenance experience in a commercial or industrial facility. Note: Completion of a post-high school technical/vocational program with certification in heating and cooling may substitute for one year of the experience.
