Service Mechanic Supervisor

Temple University's Facilities Management Department is searching for a Service Mechanic Supervisor! Position Summary: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Architectural Trades, the Service Mechanic & Filter Tech Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day work and activities of the Service Mechanics and Filter Techs at Main Campus and Ambler. Responsibilities include supervising multi-craft mechanics who perform basic building maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs, including minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, and basic carpentry work for all buildings on Main Campus. The supervisor also supervises and coordinates the Filter Techs and Service Mechanics in the cleaning of coils and the installation of scheduled filter changes for air handling systems, which are critical to maintaining healthy living, learning, and research environments. Additionally, supervisors will coordinate with the Small Projects Renovation Team on renewal/renovation work that Service Mechanics can perform. Performs other duties as assigned. This position requires the following clearances to be fully completed prior to the first day of work: Driver's License Background check.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of directly related experience. Must be experienced in performing basic electrical work such as installing switches and ballasts, basic carpentry work such as flooring, doors, and touch-up painting, basic plumbing work such as faucet, toilet, and flush-o-meters repairs, fire caulking, roofing, snow removal, and other job-related tasks. Basic understanding of all trades. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience

Philadelphia Class "A" Engineer License. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the building trades as a supervisor, lead person, or foreperson. Knowledge of project management and the ability to establish priorities are preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

Must have a basic understanding of building codes. Proven supervisory skills with the ability to manage projects. Working knowledge of all applicable computer software, including MS Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to read drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams. Familiarity with all laws and regulations pertaining to equipment operation and repair. Ability to operate all standard engineering and facilities management equipment. This position requires background checks.
