The role of the Packaging Operations Manager is to define, align, and set annual priorities that maximize business impact and collaborate with business partners across all levels to drive change and increase performance efficiencies across the operation. This role drives Pharmavite's purpose, beliefs, and values, while enabling and delivering breakthrough change in safety, quality, cost, and reliability. Typically manages one of the following departments: Tableting, Soft Gel, Gummies, or Packaging with this focusing on the Packaging department.

Responsibilities:

  • Aligns with the corporate vision and develops departmental and employee performance objectives that support company strategic goals.
  • Provides leadership and continuously develops employee skill levels, adding increasing value to the company, enabling employees to perform their jobs better and more efficiently.
  • Sustains a safe work environment by implementing safety training programs that ensure proper instruction in safe work practices is being maintained to reduce the risk of injuries.
  • Takes a leadership role in ensuring quality is a priority and continuously strives to improve our systems, processes, and compliance.
  • Leads initiatives to improve processes. Problem-solves through fact-finding, resulting in short-term corrective action and permanent long-term solutions.
  • Leads by example through our operating values and is highly visible on the manufacturing floor and in touch with the pulse of the operation across all shifts. Views the managerial role as supporting employees to enable them to do their jobs better.
  • Ability to hire, develop, and retain high-performing work teams that are motivated and driven for success towards achieving department strategic objectives while building a culture that places safety and quality at the forefront.
  • Prepares the operating and capital budgets, while controlling costs, and meeting labor and material usage standards.
  • Works in conjunction with scheduling departments to ensure priorities are being met.
  • Collaborates with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality Control, and Technical Operations departments to update equipment and processes that enhance product quality.
  • Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement team to implement lean practices throughout the operations, driving Lean and Kaizen techniques as well as SMED, 5S, etc.
  • Has the ability to assess risks and move forward quickly. When necessary, demonstrates leadership agility by solving problems and offering opinions based on best available knowledge at the time.
  • Plans and projects future equipment requirements to ensure Pharmavite remains competitive; works with the Procurement team to support negotiations on equipment with vendors, obtains approval from top management for purchases, and oversees line layout, installation, and start-up plan for equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Requires a four-year college or university degree or its equivalent level of experience.

Certification:

  • Six Sigma and/or Lean/Continuous Improvement experience & certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Requires five years' experience in Manufacturing, including a minimum of two years of managerial experience.
  • Experience working in the CPG or pharmaceutical manufacturing industries is highly preferred.

Requires:

  • Strong financial acumen in an operational environment to understand, set, and execute business strategy through financial performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) and lean mentality, courage to question processes and procedures to achieve best-in-class/breakthrough operational improvements.
  • Experience driving Lean and/or Six Sigma or Continuous Process Improvement initiatives to execute strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of inventory and shipping processes.
  • Understanding of JI's, SOPs, cGMPs, and other applicable regulations and compliance guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manufacturing shop floor environment and office environment.

Environment:

  • Exposure to raw ingredients is constant. Manufacturing and Warehouse environment, high and low temps, dust, noise, smells, etc.

Safety:

  • The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • The incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for 1 to 6 employees.

National Target Base Pay Range: $96,000.00 - $162,000.00. For candidates in California and the New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $106,000.00 - $180,000.00, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas. Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws. Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment. Our total rewards package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K match, and other wellness benefits.
