IT Support Engineer

PeopleCert is looking for an IT Support Engineer to support all IT-related activities associated with the onboarding and ongoing technical operations of High-Stakes Test Centers (HSTCs) globally. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise, best practices, and problem-solving skills to ensure seamless operations. You will collaborate with a team of skilled professionals who have built and maintain an ISO 27001-certified, 24/7 operational environment. The infrastructure is hybrid, leveraging extensive virtualization, cloud technologies, and Office 365 services.

As an IT Support Engineer, your tasks will include the following:

  • Collaborate with internal IT Systems, Operations teams, and 3rd party vendors to onboard new High-Stakes Test Centers (HSTCs) worldwide.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and deployment of hardware and software at HSTC locations.
  • Provide Tier 1 support for diagnosing and resolving issues related to PCs, CCTV hardware, and standard software, in coordination with 3rd party support providers.
  • Execute tasks assigned through the Service Request system to deliver timely and effective client support.
  • Monitor the performance of critical systems supporting HSTCs, including video recording, storage, and replication to Microsoft Azure Blob Storage, and assist in troubleshooting as needed.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to systems and network configurations; assess hardware and software requirements for proposed changes.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational IT security standards and best practices.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in IT Support or a similar role.
  • Solid knowledge of user support, as well as hardware and software installation.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple competing priorities and perform effectively within deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and communicate effectively across various levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a proactive "can-do" attitude.
  • Excellent command of the English language; native-level fluency or C2-level certification preferred (LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certification is a plus).
  • Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) will be considered an asset.

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)
  • Financial background check
  • Employment reference check.
  • If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK.
  • In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
