Clinical Nurse Manager
Functions as part of the management team, performing a variety of clinical and administrative duties related to clinical staff management and patient care. Duties may include quality monitoring, patient assessments, direct patient care, and patient/caregiver/staff education. Provides safe, therapeutic, efficient quality care and services to all patients. Functions as a member of the health care team at an intermediate nursing level to assist in the planning and implementation of patient care based upon sound nursing judgment, clinical preparation, knowledge, skills, and experience. Nursing care is provided in accordance with the provisions of the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. May be responsible for the clinical functions of more than one practice with the oversight of a Registered Nurse.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains a safe environment for both patients and employees by managing internal office functions related to clinical care and quality monitoring.
- In consultation, assigns and delegates tasks to the clinical support staff in accordance with the State Board of Nursing Licensing Regulations and the Nurse Practice Act.
- Ensures an efficient day-to-day clinical workflow within the practice.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies including OSHA, CLIA, Vaccines for Children (VFC), Department of Health, Federal Meaningful Use Standards, etc.
- Ensures compliance with the standards of the Patient Centered Medical Home and Neighborhood, and all WMG policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Coordinates efforts with employee health to ensure that all office staff receive an annual flu vaccination or receive approval for exemption from employee health.
- Assists to develop clinical policies and procedures. Assists in monitoring and evaluation of quality assessment activities.
- Attends meetings and clinical competency training sessions as needed.
- Follows recommended processes to appropriately manage and document patient concerns and quality of care issues.
- Applies Lean principles and identifies opportunities for process improvement.
- Performs all responsibilities of the Medical Assistant and Physician Office Nurse.
- Monitors Risk and Safety Management Alert System (RASMAS) notices and completes necessary follow-up.
- Monitors staff completion of clinical tasks within the patient electronic medical record and MyWellspan patient portal.
- Monitors staff compliance with Diagnostic Test Tracking.
- Monitors proper management of patients on anticoagulation therapy and use of the Coag Tracker if applicable for practice.
- Monitors staff compliance and application of competencies.
- Mentors clinical staff and assists in clinical advancement.
- Trains, mentors, and monitors staff performing phone triage procedures.
- Monitors staff competency for accurate electronic medical record documentation.
- Ensures appropriate training of staff on new equipment, procedures, and best practices.
- Coordinates the clinical training and orientation of new/floater staff.
- Audits staff performance where indicated.
- Assumes manager role when Practice Manager/Front Office Supervisor is unavailable.
- Serves in a leadership role as a member of the Quality Improvement Team (QIT), seeking to improve quality and safety through a high performing team.
- Prepares agendas and holds regular clinical staff meetings.
- Regularly serves on WMG clinical committees.
- Assists the providers and the Care Coordination Team to manage the care of patients according to their risk.
- Works with leadership to deliver patient care through practice integration of multidisciplinary clinical and centralized services.
- Assists team to identify opportunities for improvement related to the patient experience metrics.
- Coaches staff on measures to use to provide an excellent patient experience.
- Assists and educates clinical staff on when and how to enter Safety Reporting System (SRS) events, and Customer Reporting System (CRS) complaints and compliments.
Common Expectations:
- Supervises clinical staff by training, allocating, and monitoring work.
- Prepares work schedules of clinical staff; approves/disapproves scheduled time off.
- Assists Manager and Clinical Operations Coordinator with interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, and retention of clinical staff.
- Evaluates performance of designated clinical staff.
- Coordinates continuing education of clinical staff and assures clinical competencies are met, documented, and maintained.
- Trains, mentors, and coordinates preceptorship of new clinical staff.
- Strives for a high level of employee satisfaction and engagement.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.
- Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Maintains professional growth and development.

Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Diploma Program From an accredited LPN program. Required or Associates Degree From an accredited LPN program. Required
- Work Experience: 3 years Clinical nursing experience. Required Previous office and supervisory experience. Preferred
- Licenses: Licensed Practical Nurse Upon Hire Required or Licensed Practical Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required or Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required and Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
- Courses and Training: Nursing. Requires good clinical knowledge base, knowing when and how to obtain necessary or additional clinical knowledge.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal/communications skills. Models teamwork. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
