The Institutional Product Group enables the foundations of Coinbase's institutional business supporting thousands of large financial institutions. We enable institutions to custody their digital assets and participate in the crypto economy in a secure and safe way. We take pride in building a scalable & secure crypto platform supporting hundreds of assets and enabling crypto participation with staking, governance and web3 gateways. The team has interesting work on building cutting-edge crypto technologies, scalable infrastructure and UI surfaces across web, mobile and browser extensions in a fast-paced industry with an opportunity to build several new initiatives. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Foundations, Settlements and Transfers team, you will be at the core of Coinbase's financial infrastructure, ensuring the seamless and secure movement of funds. This team is responsible for processing transactions across fiat, crypto, and internal ledgers, and managing assets for our clients. You will lead the technical direction and mentorship for a team of engineers, playing a critical role in building and scaling the next generation of our financial systems.

What you'll be doing:

• Build and enhance services to meet critical product and business needs using Java, Golang and RDS Postgres.
• Design scalable high volume and low-latency systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices.
• Work with other engineers, designers and product managers to turn our product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.
• Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.
• Maintain production services and Database infrastructure

What we look for in you:

• You have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• You've designed, built, scaled and maintained critical low-latency production services, and know how to compose a service oriented architecture.
• You've good awareness of at least one of the major SQL or No-SQL databases - Postgres, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB; and interest in optimizing and maintaining them.
• You're passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with Golang and Ruby.
• Familiarity with on-chain activity, such as interacting with Ethereum addresses and dApps.
• Experience with financial systems, banking, or fintech.
• Knowledge of concepts like T+1 or T+2 settlement cycles, and the roles of clearing houses and settlement agents.
• You have gone through a rapid growth in your company (from 10 to 100s of engineers)

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility**+ benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).
