Proven experience in reverse engineering or new product development demonstrating the ability to innovate and improve existing designs. Expert proficiency in SolidWorks or alternative CAD platforms, with strong skills in 3D modeling and technical drafting practices. Comprehensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to create and interpret detailed technical drawings. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and Access for database management. Familiarity with Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) or comparable Product Data Management (PDM) systems to efficiently organize and control engineering documentation. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, stamping casting, injection molding, and electronics assembly, enabling practical and cost-effective design solutions. Basic technical knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems to support product relevance and integration. Experience working effectively in cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and leveraging diverse expertise to achieve project goals. Physical ability to safely lift items up to 20 pounds, with the capability to perform tasks requiring reach, swivel, and mobility across work areas. Comfortable working under typical industrial noise levels, maintaining focus and communication in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline, accompanied by at least 3 years of progressive engineering experience in manufacturing or product development environments. Alternatively, an Associate degree combined with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience providing a solid foundation in engineering principles and practical application. Professional development courses or certifications related to CAD software, quality systems, or manufacturing processes will be considered advantageous.
