Job Description

Field Service Engineer II Northeast US (PA, NY, NJ) Territory: up to 70% travel in territory (New Jersey and surrounding regions; Nationwide travel)

The Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) provides a wide array of analytical instruments and services to various markets such as Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Life Sciences, Medical, Energy, Spectroscopy, and Minerals and Mining. Our instruments are used globally in dynamic environments where flexibility, dependability, and user-friendliness are crucial. CAD has a global presence with more than 4,000 colleagues, offering solutions that support quick, informed decision-making. Role will report up to the Regional Service Manager, you will provide complete services on Spectroscopy instruments, including optical emission spectroscopy (OES), x-ray fluorescence (XRF), and x-ray diffraction (XRD). You will install, repair, perform preventative maintenance, and qualify these instruments. You will also collaborate with other team members, sales, technical support, and engineering.

  • Carry out on-site installation, repair, upkeep, verification, and validation of OES, XRF, and XRD systems.
  • Use customer management software to monitor service calls, parts inventories, and complete job tasks.
  • Inspect malfunctioning products, analyze findings to resolve source of the problem, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective actions.
  • Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service.
  • Develop and conduct training on the safe operation of equipment, demonstrating skills to both team members and customers.

Who Are We Looking For?

Minimum education and experience requirement:

  • High school diploma coupled with 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Service Engineer, specifically with analytical instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with OES, XRF, and XRD is highly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Engineering, or a related field preferred

Proficiencies:

  • Customer focused with excellent social skills
  • Technical knowledge of scientific equipment or related technology-based equipment
  • Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation
  • Ability to work independently within a customer location with minimal direct supervision

Travel & Physical/Environmental Requirements

Ability to travel up to 70% at times within the territory or other areas as needed. Physical activities: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. with assistance on occasion and safely lift and carry 25-30 lbs. continuously throughout the day. Environmental conditions: inside office environment, travel by taxi, train, airplane, noise, hazards, and conditions at customer locations. Maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New Jersey is $31.73–$47.60. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
