Family Service Worker

The Family Service Worker provides vital social service functions for the Head Start program, focusing on family recruitment, enrollment, engagement, and support. This role is responsible for conducting home visits, completing family assessments and partnership plans, making referrals, and providing follow-up services to ensure families receive the resources they need. The Family Service Worker supports parents in addressing challenges, building on their strengths, and accessing community services while maintaining strict confidentiality. This position requires strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, and community agencies. The Family Service Worker plays a key role in promoting family well-being, ensuring compliance with program requirements, and strengthening the connection between families and Head Start services.

What We're Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in social work/social services, or related field preferred with a commitment to obtain a National Family Development Credential within 18 months of hire.
  • Experience: One (1) year experience in social work, preferably in early childhood setting or servicing families in poverty.

What You'll Do:

  • Recruit, enroll, and support families in the Head Start program.
  • Conduct home visits to complete family assessments and partnership plans.
  • Connect families with community resources and provide referrals and follow-up.
  • Support parents in meeting children's health, attendance, and developmental needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and confidentiality while ensuring compliance with program requirements.
  • Provide crisis intervention and guidance to families when needed.
