Water Resources Engineer

RK&K is currently hiring Water Resources Engineers for our Transportation team in Pennsylvania. As a Water Resources Engineer with RK&K, your responsibilities will include design, coordination and analysis of stormwater and drainage facilities transportation projects including new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements. Primary clients include PennDOT, Local Counties and Municipalities, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and several Delaware River transportation related agencies. Some work for private clients is possible but on a less frequent basis.

Essential Functions:

  • Street drainage design (inlets, pipes, manholes)
  • Stormwater management design (basins, rain gardens, other BMPs)
  • Stormwater facility inspections
  • Erosion and Pollution control (designing temporary construction measures)
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic analysis of bridges and culverts
  • PADEP permitting documentation
  • Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments
  • Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates
  • Support preparation and documentation of design deliverables
  • Support preparation of specifications packages
  • Collaborate with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Zero (0) to Two (2) years of experience in transportation design
  • Working knowledge of basic stormwater and drainage design principals
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Engineering in Training (E.I.T.) license or ability to obtain within six (6) months
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in teams

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Familiarity with CADD platforms, design software and other Microsoft products
  • Army Corps of Engineers HEC-RAS program familiarity
  • Familiarity with HY-8 program, Mannings' Equation
