Direct Support Professional Opportunity

Greater Hearts Human Services is seeking dedicated Direct Support Professionals to join our team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make meaningful contributions in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Full-time block shifts with paid sleep hours!

Direct Support Professional Job Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities such as assisting with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks.
• Perform home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, cooking and cleaning.
• Create meal plans, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up.
• Accompany clients to scheduled appointments and transport clients to other locations as needed.
• Remind and assist individuals with self-administration of medications (Medication training will be provided).
• Encourage self-help activities such as social, exercise, cooking, etc.
• Foster and build positive relationships between caretakers and individuals.
• Maintain a safe environment to ensure the individuals safety.
• Document and report to administrators and supervisors of any changes in an individual's condition or behaviors.
• Complete reporting of services provided, logs, and other pertinent information.
• Contribute and participate in the implementation of the individuals support plan.
• Other duties as assigned.

Direct Support Professional Qualifications / Skills:

• Must provide your own transportation
• Must submit to background check
• Ability to work in a group home, home-like settings
• Communication skills (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company
• Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• 18 years of age or older
• Valid driver's license
