Corrections Food Service Instructor - SCI Laurel Highlands

In this position, you will lead inmate workers in food service operations at SCI Laurel Highlands. Your work will involve providing instruction to inmates through on-the-job training in food preparation, production, service, and baking. This will also include instructing inmates in the preparation of meals according to recipes, the safe and sanitary operation of tools and equipment, maintenance, and storage practices. You will also conduct food service work, review census and menu data then adjust recipes accordingly, and recycle leftover food. Additionally, you will maintain care, custody, and control over inmates during work assignments.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours will determined by open shifts at time of hire.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility Qualifications:
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
