Full Time Bereavement & Spiritual Support Coordinator

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full Time Bereavement & Spiritual Support Coordinator to support the Clinical Care Coordination department. This position will work daylight hours Monday through Friday and an annual remembrance ceremony on the weekend or evening. Hours are subject to change based on business needs. The Bereavement & Spiritual Support Coordinator is responsible for providing direct chaplaincy services to patients in concert with established spiritual programs as well as supervising the spiritual and bereavement programs and delivery of related services. They provide counseling and emotional support to the active and bereaved patient/family units and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Bereavement assessment and continuing evaluation of bereavement issues in the Plan of Care
  • Train, coordinate, assign, and supervise bereavement volunteers as appropriate
  • Develops interdisciplinary tools for spiritual assessment and support
  • Coordinate all bereavement follow-up contact
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings with palliative care consultation team
  • Coordinate hospice memorial services for family members, hospice staff and volunteers
  • Bereavement Interventions are included in the plan of care as appropriate
  • Develops and coordinates program of Bereavement and Spiritual support services with PSI staff, to include protocols for implementation, oversight and documentation of the bereavement care plan

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university OR Associate's Degree with 2 years of relevant experience, with additional experience from a medical, education, or service agency
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health, and/or Counseling preferred
  • Documented experience dealing with grief and bereavement required
  • Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
    • Act 33 with renewal
    • Act 34 with renewal
    • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
