Pear VC Fellowship
Pear VC is an early-stage venture capital firm that works with founders at the very beginning—before there's a team, before there's revenue, sometimes even before there's a product. We've partnered with 10+ companies we've founded ourselves, and backed startups now worth over $50B - including 7 unicorns and 3 public companies in just 9 years.
Our team is made up of former founders and operators who know what it takes to go from idea → product → company.
Why This Fellowship is Different
This is not a traditional "internship."
As our engineering fellow, you'll be building tools, automations, and products that will be used by:
- Our portfolio founders - helping them launch, grow, and scale faster.
- Our investment and platform teams - making them more effective in supporting startups.
You'll work side-by-side with early-stage founders, see how different startups operate, and understand the challenges they face. This is a chance to see the startup journey up close - and to decide if building your own company might be in your future.
What You'll Do
- Identify opportunities to save founders and investors time through better tools and automation.
- Translate needs into simple, impactful workflows.
- Build solutions that work with minimal maintenance overhead.
- Choose the right approach: buy existing software, use low-code/no-code tools, or build from scratch.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for a builder who is:
- A sophomore or junior in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Comfortable with at least one programming language (Python or JavaScript).
- Curious about startups and enjoys learning about how companies grow from the ground up.
- A creative problem solver who can work independently and ship quickly.
- Excited to work in a fast-paced, small-team environment where your work will have immediate impact.
- Able to spend ~10 hours per week working on Pear projects over the course of 6 months
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience building internal tools, automation workflows, or founder resources.
- Familiarity with React, Python, and/or APIs.
- A knack for product thinking — designing with the end user in mind.
What You'll Get Out of It
- Direct exposure to dozens of startups across different industries.
- The chance to ship real products that are used immediately by founders and teams.
- Mentorship from experienced founders, engineers, and operators.
- A front-row seat to the earliest stages of company building.
