Sr Software Engineer

PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA.

Job Duties: Design, develop, and test new applications and features for PayPal's back-end payment systems. Develop efficient, elegant, clean code with no unnecessary complication or abstraction. Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product managers in code review sessions. Design high availability, high throughput, fault tolerance, low latency, and scalable system applications in a modern cloud-based and global environment (ex, multi-region). Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Maintain knowledge of container-based and distributed application management - from binaries and manifests building and packaging, to runtime environment management (ex, host-based and serverless controls). Build, deliver, and manage backend distributed system on public cloud - AWS platforms. Develop, scale, and control strategies, standards, guidelines, and governance of continuous integration systems. Work in an agile environment with a focus on problem-solving and engineering excellence. Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and other software issues in a time-critical environment. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in computer science, engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

  • Spring Framework (2 years)
  • RESTful API Design (1 year)
  • Relational and non-relational databases (NoSQL databases) (2 years)
  • Version control using Git (1 year)
  • CI/CD pipeline development (6 months)
  • Docker and containerization (1 year)
  • Cloud platform: AWS (2 years)
  • Data streaming technologies: event-driven system design (1 year)
  • Unit and integration testing using JUnit and Mockito (6 months)

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Primary location | Pay range:

San Jose, California | Salary: $169,262-$243,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
