We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Chief Engineer to lead the Maintenance Department at our property. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all physical assets are safe, clean, fully functional, and meet the highest standards of appearance and guest satisfaction.
You will oversee preventive maintenance, daily operations, and emergency repairs while managing a team and maintaining departmental budgets. This role requires a strong blend of technical knowledge, leadership ability, and service-oriented mindset.
Lead all aspects of hotel maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and special projects.
Ensure all guest rooms receive quarterly preventive maintenance and that documentation is completed accurately.
Conduct daily inspections of systems and facilities including HVAC, fire safety, lighting, landscaping, and pool maintenance.
Manage department budget, inventory, purchasing, and payroll to ensure efficiency and cost control.
Maintain and restock PM carts weekly and track supply usage.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations with professionalism and urgency.
Ensure all systems and equipment (A/C, plumbing, signage, lighting) are labeled and logged for tracking and servicing.
Monitor and record utility usage daily to identify and address spikes.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment for team members.
Hire, train, and lead maintenance staff in alignment with company standards and culture.
Contribute to weekly team meetings and collaborate with other departments to meet property goals.
3+ years of engineering or maintenance leadership experience in a hospitality or facilities management setting
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pool operations, and general building systems
Proven experience managing budgets, inventory, and staff
Comfortable using basic technology (checklists, scheduling, digital logs)
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
