Construction Engineer Specialist

Field Construction Engineer – Major Transportation & Infrastructure Projects (Ontario)

Parsons is growing our Transportation & Infrastructure team in Ontario and we're looking for an experienced Field Construction Engineer who thrives on complex, high-profile projects. If you've delivered large MTO, Metrolinx, or municipal works and enjoy working closely with Project and Construction Managers to make designs come to life in the field, this role is for you.

You'll be a key member of our delivery team on large-scale infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, rail, and underground utilities) across Ontario. This is a site-based role with regular travel to project locations throughout the province.

In this role, you will:

• Provide construction oversight and administration to ensure a quality construction product that adheres to design specifications and standards.
• Analyze project billings and prepare payment status reports.
• Research correspondence and prepare written summaries of such research, which in some instances include recommendations for project management action.
• Prepare billing instructions and other contract administration instructions for project and corporate staff use.
• Prepare reports, usually of a financial nature, relating to contract costs, incremental contract funding, number/dollar value of contracts received in a given time-period, and project status reports.
• Establishes and maintains liaison with the discipline design engineering staff. Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure the current revision level and correct technical execution of the work.
• Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
• A combination of the following education experiences is required:
• Degree or Diploma in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, and/or a combination of related experience
• Completion of MTO T131 course
• 10+ years of experience in transportation and municipal engineering
• PEO or OACETT registered, and or ability to be registered
• Knowledge of the requirements of MTO's Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual (CAITM)
• Successful completion of MTO T131 Advanced Claims and Dispute Resolution Training Course
• Knowledge of applicable design standards, OPS specifications, standard drawings, and quality control / quality assurance material testing methods.
• Knowledge of the application of transportation construction practices and methods including the applicable quality assurance procedures
• Proven analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to utilize computer software such as MS Word, Excel, including experience with MTO specific software and with material payment calculation methods.
• Valid Class "G" driver's license.

The successful candidate will have the ability to prepare proposals, written expressions of interest and technical reports. Proven success in managing large municipal and transportation engineering projects and proven success in managing a team of inspectors, engineers and technologists is a must.
