About the Job:

This role involves overseeing a team of technical designers, managing the development of product specifications and ensuring seamless communication with overseas manufacturing partners. The Technical Design Manager plays a critical role in product development, from initial concept through to production, ensuring that all garments meet both brand and customer expectations in fit, quality, and construction.

A day in the life, what you'll be doing:

Primary Duties

• Manage and supervise assigned Technical Designers
• Mentor and guide team members in garment construction, patternmaking, and fit processes to maintain brand standards
• Manage technical design schedules and priorities, balancing multiple projects and adjusting to shifts in timelines as necessary
• Stay up to date with new industry trends, technologies, and construction techniques to drive innovation within the technical design process
• Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline workflow, enhance communication, and improve product consistency across the line
• Lead/direct fit session on live model with cross-functional teams (Design/Merchants/Product Development) to evaluate garment fit, constructions and styling details
• Ability to articulate the fit issues and present solutions during the fit session to cross functional teams.
• Accountable to resolve fit issues and to clearly communicate to vendors via Bamboo Rose PLM system, illustrator and/or pattern corrections w/in a 24-72 hour turn time.
• Accurately apply grade rules and make pattern corrections
• Take ownership to maintain accuracy of tech pack specs and construction pages.
• Develop and oversee creation of comprehensive garment specifications, including technical sketches, measurements, and construction details
• Establish and maintain library of basic block patterns.
• Establish construction standards for all fabric types.
• Establish and maintain brand fit, spec and construction consistency.
• Collaborate with designers and product developers to ensure fit and design intent are met, troubleshooting issues in pre-production samples
• Review and approve patterns, construction methods, and technical drawings to ensure high-quality production standards
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve issues promptly and effectively, maintaining strong relationships and upholding product quality standards
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Travel to Asia as needed

What it takes to Join:

• Degree in fashion design, apparel production
• Minimum 10 years of proven technical design experience
• Minimum of 7 years of pattern making knowledge
• Proven success in managing, coaching and developing technical design teams
• Advance knowledge of garment construction, fabric characteristics and garment performance standards
• Working knowledge of digital pattern systems, PLM systems, Illustrator and Excel
• Familiarity with 3D design processes or tools such as CLO
• Demonstrated strong grading knowledge
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills
• Experience with overseas factories
• Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with a keen sense of urgency
• Ability to work as a team member across multiple cross-functional teams
• Ability to flex between multiple product categories
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes and be self-motivated

Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000

• Hotel, Airplane, and Car Travel may be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. As a National Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume. This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
