Catering Sales & Event Manager
The Redondo Beach Hotel, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is looking for a Catering Sales & Event Manager to join the team! The Catering Sales & Event Manager will maximize hotel revenue by seeking out, identifying, and fully qualifying group and catering business. Ensure customer satisfaction by planning, coordinating, executing and following through on catering and group related meetings, meals, and functions, events, in accordance with customer specifications and hotel standards.
Essential functions and responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:
- Achieves catering/banquet sales goals by developing and implementing sales strategies through a proactive and customer centric approach.
- Proactively pursue new, and repeat, business within assignment market through telephone calls, outside sales calls, and written communication.
- Design and conduct site inspections.
- Clarifies customer requirements and suggests alternative menus, themes, etc.
- Prepares client proposals outlining details of proposed functions; coordinates preparation of estimates with other food and beverage departments.
- Participates in the development of catering sales and marketing strategies.
- Maximize topline revenue by selling all facets of hotel services.
- Participate in industry and civic organizations representing opportunities for future public relations and new business.
- Negotiates sale of catering sales meetings and events.
- Ensure function set-up meets or exceeds customer expectations by working closely with each group's meeting planner(s) to determine needs.
- Executes proper communication and coordination to satisfy customer's requests.
- Assists customers in finalizing function details; suggests alternatives as appropriate.
- Confirm functions meet customer expectations by following-up regularly on the status of functions.
- Inspects function rooms.
- Greets customer and follows-up to see that customer needs are met; makes last-minute changes and additions to meet changing customer needs.
- Coordinates outside vendor activity as needed.
- Conduct pre and post event meetings communicating needs and sharing feedback with appropriate team members.
- Solicits re-booking from customer prior to departure.
- Maintains proper documentation of events.
- Compiles and reviews daily and weekly event sheets.
- Compiles and verifies charges/billing ensuring accuracy; collect deposits and final payments.
- Creates total guest satisfaction by providing genuine hospitality and by exceeding guest expectations.
- Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing guest service.
- Listens, apologizes with empathy, finds a solution and follows through when resolving guest problems.
- Assumes the responsibility to notice when the guest is not satisfied and uses their best judgement in rectifying the complaint.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
Knowledge/Education/Experience: Two years hotel catering sales experience.
Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: Must have strong English skills, both oral and written. Strong presentation, communication and organizational skills required. Ability to make timely, effective decisions. Ability to prioritize, organize and make good judgments. Ability to maintain good team member relations. Ability to develop and maintain effective guest relations. Ability to work long hours, 5 to 6 days a week. Basic accounting procedures. Computer skills; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Salary Range: $70,304-$75,000 annually
