Data Scientist Role At Overwatch Imaging
Join our dynamic team to build, maintain, and optimize the end-to-end data and model pipelines that power our core Artificial Intelligence systems. This is a hands-on role perfect for an ambitious engineer who is passionate about taking raw data through the entire lifecycle—from scraping and wrangling to production-ready, trained models. This is an onsite role based out of our office in Hood River, OR.
What You'll Do:
- Data Pipeline Ownership: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to ingest, clean, and transform data from various sources, including web scraping.
- Data Wrangling and Feature Engineering: Perform extensive data manipulation, cleaning, and preparation to ensure high-quality data is ready for model consumption.
- Model Development and Experimentation: Train, test, and tune Machine Learning and Deep Learning models for various Computer Vision and classification tasks, including Object Detection, Semantic Segmentation, and Classification.
- Full ML Lifecycle Management: Be responsible for the end-to-end process of taking models from initial research and experimentation through iterative training, testing, evaluation, and preparation for deployment.
- Performance Optimization: Collaborate with the team to analyze, debug, and optimize model performance, data flow, and training speed.
- Documentation and Collaboration: Maintain clear documentation of data pipelines, models, and experiments, and work closely with product and senior engineering teams.
What You'll Bring:
- Programming Expertise: Strong proficiency in Python.
- Deep Learning Frameworks: Hands-on experience with both TensorFlow and PyTorch.
- ML Fundamentals: Demonstrated knowledge of common machine learning models and techniques, especially those related to computer vision.
- Data Proficiency: Experience with data acquisition methods (e.g., scraping, API integrations), data storage, and efficient data wrangling libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
- M.S. or B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications (A Strong Plus):
- High-Performance Computing: Experience with C++ for performance-critical components.
- Parallel Computing: Familiarity with multi-threaded applications and concurrent programming.
- GPU Acceleration: Experience with CUDA programming or optimizing models for GPU acceleration.
- Familiarity with MLOps tools for model versioning, tracking, and deployment (e.g., MLflow, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with cloud computing platforms for scalable data and model infrastructure.
