OTIV is a Ghent-based company leading the autonomous revolution in rail. We are on a mission to increase safety and efficiency of railway operations by teaching rail vehicles to drive autonomously. By making trains more efficient and safer, we actively contribute to a modal shift and a greener future. We bring this vision to life by a unique focus on the most challenging environments such as cities, shunting yards and industrial sites. Thanks to high-profile partners and world-leading clients such as Deutsche Bahn, SNCF Group, ArcelorMittal and CAF we deliver the future of railway operations today.

OTIV is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to a work environment that supports, inspires, and respects all individuals and in which personnel processes are merit-based and applied without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age, disability, national or ethnic origin, military service status, citizenship, or other protected characteristic. OTIV strives to create an environment in which all employees feel confident in their ability to bring their authentic selves to work and secure collaborating with colleagues and customers.

What You Will Do

As Engineering Manager, you will lead the Research & Development of your product and its new features through the full product cycle — from feasibility analysis to production readiness. You will work closely with the Engineering & Product Leads, and OPS lead to ensure we build the right product the right way — delivering what our customers value in a way that scales smoothly into production. You will enable a high-performing and cross-functional team of top-tier engineers (software, robotics, and electromechanical, data, ML, ..). As the technical reference for your product, you will ensure that every technical decision aligns with the roadmap, meets stringent quality requirements, and supports long-term scalability. Together with the Engineering Lead and your fellow Engineering Managers, you will shape, enable & challenge the engineering teams to build the future of rail.

Tasks and Responsibilities

As Engineering Manager at OTIV you will..

  • Lead and inspire a cross-functional engineering team of software, robotics, and electromechanical engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Own the technical delivery of your product from concept to production, ensuring quality, scalability, and alignment with the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Lead to translate customer needs and strategic priorities into actionable engineering work.
  • Coordinate across disciplines to integrate software, hardware, and systems into robust, reliable solutions.
  • Drive process improvement, introducing best practices that enhance speed, quality, and maintainability.
  • Monitor progress and remove blockers, ensuring your team consistently meets commitments without compromising standards.
  • Act as the technical reference point within the company for your product, guiding decision-making with a broad understanding of both hardware and software domains.
